Introduction


Most consignments of animals, animal products and products of non-animal origin from non-EU countries must come through a Border Control Post (BCP), previously known as a Border Inspection Post (BIP). Such products must undergo certain veterinary checks in accordance with European Directives. These rules apply to both commercial and personal traffic.

Abbreviations for animals


LA – Live animals
U – Ungulates other than registered equidae
E – Registered equidae
O – Other animals other than Ungulates


Abbreviations for products of animal origin


POA – Products of animal origin, composite products, germinal products, animal by-products, hay and straw
HC – Products for human consumption
NHC – Products not for human consumption
NT – No temperature requirement
T – Frozen/chilled products
T(CH) – Chilled products


Abbreviations for goods of non-animal origin


PNAO – Products of non-animal origin
HC (food) – Food of non-animal origin covered by conditions or measures referred to in Annex 2 of Regulation (EU) 2019/1014
NHC (food) – Feed of non-animal origin covered by conditions or measures referred to in Annex 2 of Regulation (EU) 2019/1014
NHC (other) – Products of non-animal origin
NT – No temperature requirement
T – Frozen/chilled products
T(FR) – Frozen products
T(CH) – Chilled products
