The Customs Declarations UK team has just returned from Multimodal 2026 at the NEC Birmingham — and what an event it was. Three days of brilliant conversations, valuable reconnections, and a real sense of momentum across the UK logistics and supply chain community.
For those unfamiliar, Multimodal is the UK and Ireland’s leading freight transport, logistics, and supply chain management exhibition, bringing together shippers, freight forwarders, hauliers, ports, and technology providers under one roof. For us, it was the perfect stage to connect with the industry face to face.
Reconnecting with Our Customers
Without doubt, one of the biggest highlights of the event was meeting so many of our existing customers in person. In a world where most of our interactions happen through screens and support tickets, there’s something genuinely energising about sitting down together, hearing feedback first-hand, and understanding the day-to-day customs challenges our users face.
These conversations weren’t just pleasant catch-ups — they were insightful. Every piece of feedback helps us shape the CDUK platform to deliver faster, smoother, and more compliant customs operations. We came away with a clearer picture of what matters most to the businesses we serve, and a renewed commitment to keep improving.
Meeting Partners, Peers, and New Faces
Beyond our customers, we were delighted to connect with freight forwarders, customs agents, hauliers, importers, exporters, technology partners, and industry professionals from every corner of the logistics and supply chain sector.
It was also a pleasure to catch up with respected peers across the customs and trade technology space. Events like Multimodal remind us that while we may operate in a competitive industry, we’re all working towards the same goal: making UK and international trade simpler, faster, and more compliant.
And of course, we welcomed a steady stream of prospective customers to our stand — businesses exploring how to bring customs processes in-house, reduce operational workload, and gain better compliance visibility. If you were one of them, thank you for stopping by. We look forward to continuing the conversation.
What We Showcased
Multimodal 2026 gave us the ideal opportunity to demonstrate two key developments on the CDUK platform:
T1 / NCTS Transit Declarations
Our upcoming transit solution is designed to help businesses manage T1 movements alongside CDS imports, CDS exports, ENS, and GVMS/RoRo movements — all within a single platform. For businesses moving goods under transit, this means fewer systems to juggle, less duplication of data, and a more streamlined end-to-end customs workflow.
Intelligent Document Processing (IDP)
Our AI-powered automation capability drew plenty of attention at the stand. IDP extracts key data directly from commercial invoices and packing lists, dramatically reducing manual data entry, improving accuracy, and speeding up declaration preparation. Visitors were particularly interested in how IDP can cut processing time while reducing the risk of costly errors — a genuine game-changer for high-volume declarants.
The Bigger Picture
Both of these developments reflect our broader vision: Customs Declarations UK is continuing to evolve as a modern, cloud-based customs filing platform for businesses that want to take control of their customs processes. Whether you’re an importer, exporter, freight forwarder, or customs agent, our goal is to give you the tools to file with confidence — without the operational burden.
Thank You
A huge thank you to everyone who visited our stand, spoke with our team, and shared their insights with us. Events like Multimodal are only as good as the people who attend, and this year’s edition was exceptional.
If we met at the event and you’d like to pick up where we left off — or if you missed us and want to learn more about T1/NCTS Transit, IDP, or the wider CDUK platform — we’d love to hear from you.
